Determination of causes of bovine neonatal Pancytopenie
Project
Project code: 2810HS027
Contract period: 01.09.2010
- 30.09.2012
Budget: 71,460 Euro
Purpose of research: Basic research
'The proposed project is a comprehensive analysis of the fundamentals of bovine neonatal pancytopenia (BNP). Based on the compiled results to decision-making tools are derived both in terms of possible measures to combat the disease (injury prevention in cattle production) and in relation to the other use of affected animals (hazard by diseased animals).
According to the derived from preliminary working hypothesis is the project partner FBN in the investigation of the genetic and pathophysiological basis pursues a hypothesis open holistic approach at the level of the genome and transcriptome in order to identify differences between the BNP affected cows and calves and unaffected controls. For the investigations in particular Transkriptomebene should be resorted to Germany's unique requirements in FBN, on the one hand a powerful platform for next-generation sequencing is available. On the other hand can be used to track the goal of the project to a unikales and animal specimens, which was already shown in previous work. The hypothesis of transcriptome and genome analysis open to make the analysis independent of the genetic basis and a comprehensive amount of phenotypic, pathophysiologic characterization of the BNP.
