Participation in the national and international development, standardization, and evaluation of methods for the analysis of oilseeds and oilseed meals as well as animal and vegetable fats and oils. These methods are important not only for the analysis of the compositional and nu-tritional ingredients (essential fatty acids, sterols, vitamins) of foodstuffs, but also for the identification of contamination (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, dioxins, mineral oils) which may occur during international trade (including transport) and within the framework of consumer protection on a national level (official food controlling and monitoring). International standardized methods of analysis are the basis of Codex Alimentarius Standards and are adopted as DIN EN methods in the national official analytical methods accoding to § 64 of the German Food Act.
