Institute for Forest Ecosystems (TI-WO)

Institution

Description

The Institute for Forest Ecosystems is committed to studying the environmental impacts on the structures, biotic communities and ecosystem functions of forests. National Forest Inventories (NFI) and Forest Monitoring provide essential information about forest dynamics at the national level, such as the change in forest vitality over time, the growing stock, and carbon sequestration. The Institute derives its research competence for its role in advising the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) on issues relevant to the above-mentioned issues from its own research efforts, the coordination of national research projects, and cooperation with research partners.
