Project code: 81122462
Contract period: 01.03.2010 - 31.08.2011
Budget: 59,900 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research

The study will look at how the new technology affected the livelihoods of small-scale groundnut-growing households, the changes in intra-household decision-making on which activities would be undertaken and by whom, and how this influenced the innovation process as well as adoption and impact outcomes. The socio-economic results of the impact assessment at the household level will be linked to a better understanding of structures, decisions and processes along the information pathway from breeding the new cultivar to farmers‘ expressing their specific demand in the market for this technology. This innovative approach will allow valuable lessons to be learnt in regard to bridging the gap between formal agricultural research, administrative and development institutions, market actors and small-holder farmers.
