Purpose of research: Applied research
1. To provide an overview of existing approaches and results concerning characterisation and typologies of rural areas for territorial/spatial impact assessment of policies
2. To show pros and cons of approaches to rural typologies in respect to territorial socio-economic modelling – ie the quantitative assessment of the impact of rural development policies by using spatially differentiated economic models
3. To draw recommendation for an approach to be selected in further discussion
