Project code: 2818204115
Contract period: 01.09.2016 - 31.08.2019
Budget: 77,537 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research

"The project RGS Gerste focused on introgression of resistances against barley yellow dwarf virus and net blotch from non-adapted resistance donors into elite barley lines. Doubled-haploid (DH) lines were produced from these crosses and can be integrated into ongoing breeding programs of the breeders involved in the project. Cross-planning and selection were performed with recurrent genomic selection. New methods and strategies were developed and evaluated in computer simulations: The criterion MAX-G assesses the potential of a cross to produce the best possible DH line. The criterion MSD evaluates a cross not only based on its mean value but also takes into account the segregation variance. Phenotypic and genotypic data from the project were also used to investigate how the number of replications in field trials can be reduced without a loss of accuracy in the estimation of marker effects."
