"ZwiebelNetz – Service oriented network on weather data and results of prognosis models in plant protection by the example of ZWIPERO
The aim of the project was to enhance the access and the utilization of canopy climate data from the German Met Service (DWD) on the one hand and model results from ISIP on the other hand. Using the example of ZWIPERO – a model to calculate the infection conditions of downy mildew in onions – an infrastructure was developed to remedy the error-prone seesaw sending of files. By the implementation of web-based REST-interfaces, the calculations of the DWD as well as the simulation results of ISIP can be retrieved in real-time. This gives two options:
• The usage of the DWD interface enables ISIP to provide interactive access to ZWIPERO to their users. In turn, they can calculate the model on own data, producing an individual output.
• The usage of the ISIP interface enables cooperation partners to upgrade their desktop and mobile applications with results from ZWIPERO.
The successful implementation of such a service-oriented infrastructure will give rise to many future cooperation opportunities."
