"In the SELBEX project, a selective, non-chemical control method for poisonous plants in extensive grassland was developed using colchicum autumnale as an example. The principle is based on targeted cutting of the poisonous plant. For this purpose, a driverless, 0.40 m wide mower and, alternatively, a tractor-coupled water jet device with a working width of 2.50 m, divided into 10 individually switchable sections, were set up. Both devices used the position data of the poisonous plants, which were determined from georeferenced aerial photographs. These were taken with a drone at flowering time in autumn. Artificial intelligence methods were used to detect the autumn crocus and store its position in a map. In spring, the devices removed the plants from the grassland according to this map. A repeated measure 2 to 3 weeks later reduced the stock to 0 to 2 plants per m² at the time of the hay harvest in mid-June."
