In the Arable land (Soil) cluster, the site-specific, spatially and temporally high-resolution determination of soil organic carbon stands out in particular, while the Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition cluster shows that the entire process chain (plant cultivation, feeding, animal husbandry, intermediate storage and aplliciation of liquid manure, plant nutrition) should be considered as a cycle. The Plant Cultivation and Plant Breeding cluster revolves primarily around increased nitrogen efficiency, meaning less nitrogen fertilizer for the same yields. The spread and control of pests and pathogens is placed in larger, systemic contexts in the Crop Protection and Animal Health cluster. in the Animal Husbandry cluster, for example, feed efficiency is leading to new feeding approaches.
