Diagnostic investigations of cockchafer grubs from Hessia

Purpose of research: Applied research
Within the framework of the cooperation between the Nordwestdeutsche Forstliche Versuchsanstalt (NW-FVA) and the JKI, cockchafer grubs, Melolontha hippocastani, are investigated for specific insect pathogens. On the basis of these investigations, the health status of the Hessian cockchafer population is to be determined. Natural infections with specific pathogens can contribute to a considerable reduction of pest calamities.
