"The networking and transfer project bundled and accompanied research activities dealing with the utilisation and opportunities of digitalisation in the agricultural sector and identified possible regulatory needs. Since 2014, more than 230 projects on digitalisation in the agricultural sector have been funded by the BMEL. In order to be able to use the great potential of digital technologies for more sustainable crop production, it is important to set the framework conditions at an early stage in such a way that innovations can spread quickly, negative consequences will be limited and positive effects will be strengthened. To this end, cost-benefit analyses were carried out for three digital use cases in crop production, expert discussions were held and workshops were organised. Four political recommendations for action were derived from these: 1. neutral test centre for digital applications 2. legal framework for the operation of autonomous technologies in the field 3. image database of funded projects 4. training for farmers on digital applications."
