Collaborative project: Optimizing agricultural cropping strategies and measures for climate adaptation – analysis and assessment at the landscape level with special regard to their interactions with plant protection, productivity, cropping structure and greenhouse gas emissions - subproject 3 (OptAKlim)

Project

Project code: 281B203316
Contract period: 21.08.2018 - 20.10.2021
Budget: 113,939 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: climate change adaptation, environmental effects, cropping systems, suitability for cultivation

"In OptAKlim, regional agricultural strategies for climate adaptation and mitigation were developed further. In an integrative analysis, crop protection, productivity, distribution of crop types and crop cultivation consequences were examined in three model regions. Accompanied by an intensive farmer dialogue, three adaptation and one mitigation strategy were developed for each region. Their ecological and economic effects were evaluated based on indicators for the periods 2016, 2040 and 2060 and compared in a trade-off analysis. The analyzes show strategy- and region-specific effects and trade-offs for all indicators. With SYNOPS-WEB+, an area-specific evaluation of the adaptation options can be carried out. The project results underline the value of interdisciplinary and regional research approaches. They offer various potential for further development, e.g. regarding model and process development."
