The project consists of three main parts: First, through an advisory service of farmers, the cultivation of legumes shall be strenghened and improved. Secondly, regarding a further processing of legumes, capture and treatment of the raw product shall be improved by a specific cleaning facility, adapted to the needs of legumes. Last but not least, processing technology for the implementation of new product lines in the field of food production shall be developed.

Abstract
The EIP project „Leguminous Plants Going Strong - More Pulses on the Plate“ was supposed to enhance the general conditions for the cultivation and marketing of pulses for human consumption in Rhineland-Palatinate. The approach included organic farmers, trade companies and food processors along the value chain.
Agricultural extension services to organic farmers and their interaction was to be improved in order to enhance a productive cooperation between farmers and food processors. The main goal of the project was to plan and establish a cleaning facility for large-grain pulses. It was erected at the site of Rupp Landhandel GmbH, Framersheim, and will be in use for the harvest of 2020.
A second focus of activity consisted in the planning and realization of a facility to produce relishes on the basis of organic pulses. The production site was established by purvegan GmbH in Ramsen. During the project a relish based on regional organic lupins was launched in the organic market.
