Collaborative project: Genetic analysis of nitrogen efficiency regulation and selection of efficient winter wheat varieties from the MAGIC-WHEAT population WM-800 as a contribution to climate protection in agriculture - subproject 2 (MAGIC-Efficiency)

Project

Project code: 281B201916
Contract period: 01.10.2018 - 30.09.2021
Budget: 201,810 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: wheat research, breeding, MAGIC population, nitogen use efficiency

The MAGIC-Efficiency network consisting of the research institutions Martin-Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU), Forschungszentrum Jülich (FZJ), the breeding companies BASF Agricultural Solutions Belgium N.V. (BASF), KWS LOCHOW (KWS), RAGT 2N (RAGT), SECOBRA Saatzucht GmbH (SECOBRA) and Syngenta aims at understanding the genetic regulation of nitrogen efficiency from roots to grains using sensor-based plant phenotyping systems. In addition, MAGIC-Efficiency aims at the selection of nitrogen efficient genotypes from the recently released multi-parental MAGIC-WHEAT population WM-800. The project is being supported by the German Federation for Plant Innovation (GFPi).
