The joint project 'FoKuS_TUN' pursues the strategic goal of sustainably strengthening animal owners in Germany and supporting them in prioritising animal and environmental protection as well as quality in production and market orientation. With the help of the animal welfare competence centres ('Tierwohlkompetenzzentren' TWZ) pig, poultry and cattle, available knowledge is bundled, prepared according to target groups and offered according to demand. The latest research results and results from innovation promotion must be included, as well as experience from theme-related projects (e.g. model and demonstration projects), in order to derive answers for agricultural practice. The aim is to bundle subject-specific knowledge, organise the exchange of experience between practitioners, scientists, consultants and other groups and thus enable and promote knowledge networking within the sector (peer-to-peer learning). Experience and recommendations for action are disseminated throughout Germany via various communication channels and through various knowledge transfer events (training courses, workshops, seminars, events, qualification measures, further training, coaching) in the federal states. In the federal states, the animal welfare multipliers ('Tierwohlmultiplikatoren' TWM) are close to practice and guarantee the transfer of knowledge to the grassroots. In addition, the aim is to sensitise society to the concerns of animal welfare and environmental protection through intensive communication with the public and a broad circle of interested parties. In order to achieve these goals, partners from state institutions and science with proven competence in the livestock sector, supporters with competence in the pedagogical and didactic field as well as actors with media competence work together in the joint project 'FoKuS_TUN'. A continuous exchange with practitioners is an essential part of this cooperation. The participating partners, who have a high level of expertise in the fields of agriculture, knowledge preparation and management, communication and innovation, will develop results in the following seven work packages (WP): - WP 1: Coordination/Organisation (VLK) - WP 2: Animal Welfare Competence Centre Pig (LWK Na) - WP 3: Animal Welfare Competence Centre Poultry (LWK Lower Saxony) - WP 4: Animal Welfare Competence Centre Cattle (Landesbetrieb Landwirtschaft Hessen) - WP 5: Knowledge transfer by animal welfare multipliers in the federal states (SH, HB, HH, MV, NI, BB, NW, RP, HE, TH, ST, SN, SL, BW, BY) - WP 6: Methodological-didactical preparation (FiBL/DLG) - WP 7: Nationwide networking of future-oriented enterprises (FiBL) In this way, the expertise and knowledge of the expert advisory councils and the working groups on specific animal species are transferred to the Länder and vice versa.
