Climate change

Project code: EIP-Agri-HE-2020-LPLTTSKBUVK
Contract period: 01.06.2020 - 31.05.2022
Budget: 400,000 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: farming practice/activity, animal husbandry, pest/disease control, waste/pollution, climate change

High ammonia concentrations in the stable air and the occurrence of foot pad lesions can severely impair the welfare of broilers. The main cause is damp and dirty litter. The property of plant and activated carbon is used as a substrate to bind pollutants and nutrients. This will be tested with sustainably produced carbon from residual biomass. The aim is to improve animal health and welfare and to promote regional value chains and closed material cycles.
