Comprehensive classification of the lipidomic profile of seed oils and extension of a lipidomic database
Project
Project code: MRI-GE-08-11-05
Contract period: 01.01.2001
- 31.12.2021
Purpose of research: Experimental development
Keywords: Sustainable process and product quality
Lipids and accompanied compounds of plants are characterized by a huge variation and a large number of different structures which may play a rule in different parts of nutrition. Especially plant seeds as nutrient storage may be an interesting source. The comprehensive classification of the lipidomic profile of seed oils with different analytical techniques is important to extent the knowledge of the huge biodiversity of plants. Additionally to own results data from specialist literature are collected in the internet based database „Seed Oil Fatty Acids" (SOFA).
The database SOFA currently contains about 110.000 individual entries regarding fatty acids, tocopherols, phytosterols, triacylglyerols in 17.500 data sets which belonging to more than 7.000 different plant species. The database enables the search for plant species, genus, family, individual compounds as well as the combination of several query attributes.
