Purpose of research: Basic research
The fishery is regulated since the 1970s by mainly a TAC-System, togehter with technical regulaitons. This system is considered to have largely failed. The EU-Commission seeks new management methods and a number of member states are in favour of ITQ-Systems. It is now important to evaluate the consequences of ITQ-Systems for the German fishery in the Western Baltic Sea
