Production processes

Project code: vTI-OEL-08-Kompost HH
Contract period: 01.07.2009 - 31.12.2009
Purpose of research: Applied research

Field trials at the University of Kassel-Witzenhausen have shown a clear reduction of Rhizoctonia solani after the application of bio-composts. The infection of potatoes with R. solani is an increasing problem in the production of organically grown potatoes and the farmers sustain high economical losses, because highly infested potatoes are not marketable. This applies to seed potatoes as well, because it is well-known, that the harvest of infested seed poatoes is exceedingly infested. These results should be verified on other locations with different climate and soil conditions.
