Production processes

Project code: JKI-RS-08-2323
Contract period: 01.01.2001 - 01.12.2013
Purpose of research: Applied research

The aim of the project is to ensure a sustainable fruit production by using host plant resistance against bacterial diseases which cannot be controlled by chemicals. Cultivars and breeding lines with resistance to fire blight (Erwinia amylovora) are selected each year. For this purpose isolates of E. amylovora from different geographical regions are collected each year and tested for their virulence. A mixture of virulent strains is used for the resistance evaluation. After shoot infection in the glasshouse resistant plants are selected. Blossom susceptibility is tested in the field.
