National implementatiom of the UNECE Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution (Effects): ICP Modelling&Mapping NFC; Heavy Metals (Critical Loads/Deposition); Nitrogen and Acidity (Deposition); Nitrogen (Effects); Material corrosion; critical Ozone fluxes
Project
Project code: vTI-AK-08-37
Contract period: 01.04.2004
- 30.09.2007
Purpose of research: Applied research
The essential aim of the project is to register and evaluate the risk potential of atmospheric air pollution inputs on the national scale, and to process modelling and mapping results for use in budgeting and quantitatively estimating the loads caused by air pollutant input on regional and sub-regional scale. Working results will be made available to support the development of strategies to reduce trans-boundary air pollutant transports. The basic approaches used are the concepts of Critical Level and of Critical Loads according to the guidelines of the ICP Task Force on Modelling and Mapping. Their stringent evaluation requires input data as up-to-date as possible as well as the consideration of polluting process dynamics and the description of imminent spatial and temporal trends of pollutant load effects. Part of the task is to verify the results on national and European scale and to contribute to the further development of methods within the concepts of Critical Level and Critical Loads.
