Collaborative project: Investigations of meeting the demands for energy and nutrient supply of growing-finishing boars for exploitation of the genetically determined performance potential - subproject 4

Project

Project code: 2813802910
Contract period: 01.03.2011 - 31.10.2013
Budget: 52,790 Euro
Purpose of research: Experimental development

The scientific basis for the estimation of the energy and amino acid requirements of growing-finishing hybrid boars with regard to their typical hybrid origin is the objective of this applied interdisciplinary project which is carried out in cooperation between several research institutes and the industry. It is based on the factorial method and its validation under experimental and practical conditions. The research project is divided into 4 subprojects: 1.Investigations on the ability of protein accretion using nitro-gen balance trails and determination of whole body composition. 2. Implementation of feeding trials on individ-ual animal level with three different feeding intensity levels (control (K); experiment 1 (V1), supplementation 7.5 - 10% EAS (essential amino acids); experiment 2 (V2), supplementation 15 - 20% EAS) and differentiated genetic basis with 504 animals at three research stations. 3. Implementation of feeding trials with group housed animals divided into a control group and an experimental group under practical conditions to assess the practicability and profitability.4. Investigations on the precaecal digestibility of amino acids. The combination of established methods and scientific capacities of different research facilities and the experimental capacity of the federal state research stations allow target-oriented work in the individual subsections. The ultimate aim is the complex derivation of recommendations for growing-finishing hybrid boars.
