The total number of organic farms and their land have risen steadily in Germany. However, it has since the mid-1990s, where numerous companies that have re moved from the ecological to the conventional farming, whereby the expansion of organic agriculture has been slow. Exits from the organic farming manifest public disclosure are, among others, that log the operations of the EU-ecological control and therefore no longer in the operation list of the state supervisory authority of the federal state are performed. The reasons for dropping out German farmers from organic farming is currently no detailed knowledge before. It is unknown if the have opted not to state control authority reported holdings of the organic production method or whether the plants were abandoned altogether. In the latter case would be interesting to see whether the areas are still farmed. In this research project are against this background, in particular the following objectives: a nationwide investigation of the number of exits from the organic production method according to regions within the last five years or the period of retroactive effect is evaluated based on data availability. The differentiation of exits from the rear conversions to organic farming in the conventional economy and the end of operations. Determination of the surface remained in the case of farm abandonment and differentiation of the date of the return migration before, on or after the expiry of the first period. An investigation of the subjective reasons for the targeted reduction conversions to conventional economic system and the collection of objective frame data in the context of return migration, such as regional characteristics for the production, in the sale, in the eligibility conditions etc. It is likely that of exits, a negative image posed to organic farming and the fact that interested farmers may be discouraged from conversion to organic farming. Therefore, the development of approaches and recommendations for action to avoid back changes together with the relevant stakeholders, a key objective of this project. There is also an intensive discussion and development of recommendations with the practice provided to help with the project results in a permanent increase of organic farming in Germany.
