Optimization of the sampling procedure for the detection of MRSA in livestock (D1 farms, fattening D2)
Project
Project code: 2808HS019
Contract period: 18.05.2009
- 31.12.2011
Budget: 156,397 Euro
Purpose of research: Basic research
The aim of this project is the fulfillment of a decision support requirements of the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV) scientific studies on the development of efficient and standardized sampling and detection methods for MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) carried out at different locations of the animal body and in the animal's environment. These are field studies in typical livestock with the swine, chicken and beef (including veal) are made to clarify the significance of various sites, different dates of sampling and compliance-specific factors influencing the sensitivity of the present, based on the experience of the National Reference Laboratory for coagulase-negative staphylococci BfR, have used detection method and how it can be optimized if necessary. The planning and coordination of the optimization of sampling procedures in animal populations is taken by the applicant (ITTN) of this sub-project. For comparison of MRSA acquisition with the procedures of Regulation (2008/55/EC) in pig herds (sub-projects with the grant number and 2808HS020 2808HS030) different compartments and locations will be sampled at the animal. Furthermore, sampling methods for detection of MRSA in animals and in the animal's environment in cattle and poultry farms (Project with grant number 2808HS029) were tested for their practicality and sensitivity. To cope with the high sample volumes are sed. dust and sock swab samples from all sub-projects in the OWL-CVUA untersucht.Die results of the planned project will be merged in ITTN and evaluated. They will feed into the foundations of German law-making for the surveillance of animal populations in the incidence of MRSA and serve at Community level for the design of Zoonosemonitoring accordance with Directive 2003/99/EC
