Project
Project code: vTI-BD-08-43
Contract period: 01.01.2012
- 31.10.2014
Purpose of research: Applied research
High Nature Value (HNV) farmland comprises those areas in Europe where agricultural practices support or are associated with a high species and habitat diversity. HNV farming in the EU is threatened by intensification and abandonment of agricultural land use. Preserving HNV farming is a central aim of the EU Common Agricultural Policy. Therefore all EU member states are called upon identifying and localizing HNV farming within their respective countries. This task has so far not been accomplished in Germany. The objective of the project is to characterize and localize HNV farming in Germany.
