Purpose of research: Applied research

On the majority, agricultural utilised areas were concerned by land consumption due to settlements and traffic. The compensation required by nature conservation law predominantly takes place on areas utilised by agriculture and forestry. This situation is not satisfying, neither for agriculture, nor nature conservation, which predominantly takes place beyond agricultural utilised areas. Compensatory measures can also be integrated into agricultural production by a nature conservation compatible cultivation. The advantage of such cooperative approaches is, that this areas will not be detracted from production and at the same time an advancement of the ecologically condition of this biotope will result. The project aims of an analysis of the significant legal, economical, nature conservation and institutional conditions for product integrated compensatory area wide measures. During the three year project it will be researched, in how far product integrated measures, if applicable in combination with agrarian environmentally measures, can lead to efficient problem solutions for agriculture and nature conservation. Taking into account the high lasting loss of biodiversity in the central European cultivated landscape it will also be researched, which contribution compensatory measures in the agrarian landscape for conservation of biodiversity in agricultural utilised area in Germany are being and will be supplied. Near by, also proposals for further development of the nature conservation law based impact regulation will be compiled. The project includes the initiation of pilot projects and an intensive public relation.
