Project
Project code: keine Angabe
Contract period: 01.09.2009
- 31.08.2013
Purpose of research: Networks and research co-ordination
In Work Package 6 a science to business knowledge translation and dissemination plan has been designed together with a governance structure for knowledge management in the meat production. A plan for disseminating translated knowledge and networking activities to involve industry and academia into processes of innovation management will be developed.
To generate information about knowledge translation training workshops will be designed, based on methods of knowledge management, during which researchers from different disciplines (preferably industry and academia) of the meat sector will exercise the science-to-business translation of knowledge. The training workshops will be used as a facility for the stepwise development and verification of the concept.
In the framework of three open international conferences and one thematic seminar the training workshops will be held and moderated by the recruited researcher, focusing on key challenges in quality and risk management in meat chains
Three case studies of critical success factors in innovation management showed how a systematical approach by an innovation broker can assist SME’s in developing their strength by selection of partners, network building other players in the meat chain and science. The 4th case study showed inclusion of a novel hatching procedure in the design of a large scale broiler production system without transport is described in the fourth case. The 5th case describes how a biosecurity questionnaire can be used to evaluate and communicate the health status between pig husbandry systems.
German pig farmers and experts followed training on sustainability in the Netherlands. A training on breeding and marketing of special meat quality traits of endangered pig breeds was held for European concerned breeders and scientist.
To enable those companies that deal with innovation challenges and guide their own business in a sustainable innovative way it is important for companies in the field of inter-enterprise quality and risk management to analyze their business environment. For this, companies and especially SMEs depend on knowledge from several experts of the sector.
