Production processes

Project code: vTI-BW-08-123
Contract period: 01.05.2008 - 30.09.2010
Purpose of research: Inventory & Assessment

Do yield developments based on the ''Besondere Ernteermittlung'' (BEE) differ between different crops and which conclusions can be drawn regarding the competitiveness of the different crops? How did the competitiveness of different locations change considering long term yield developments? How did real farm yields and variety testing yields change relative to each other over time and does the ratio change between crops? The yield and yield ratios developed very different between different crops and regions since 1994. The yields of wheat, barley, rye and corn silage increased just very slightly or even decreased for rye. Therefore they lost competitiveness to other crops with stronger increasing yields as rapeseed, sugar bees and corn. The analyses show that farmers did realize less of the yield potential of wheat, barely and rye in 2007 than in 1994. For rapeseed the situation is vice versa: Farm level yields are much more closer to variety testing yields.
