Project

Project code: 2811OE138
Contract period: 01.07.2013 - 31.07.2015
Budget: 173,032 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research

The growing organic food sector is shaped by an increasing farm specialization as well as by the market entry of larger retail and food processing enterprises. Against this background organic food certification is getting increasingly demanding and complex. With it qualification requirements for people working in organic certification are also increasing. Organic sector representatives and responsible goverment agencies therefore ask for an improved basic qualification training of certification personnel. The aim of this project therefore is to develop a sound, tailored and consistent basic training concept for certification personnel widely accepted by certification bodies, public authorities and organic food enterprises. To increase acceptance relevant stakeholders are integrated into the development of this basic training concept. During the project time frame (November 2012 until March 2014) they are welcome to participate in several stakeholder workshops aiming at integrating their perspective. The developed training concept will be implemented and evaluated in a first pilot course. Towards the end of this project possibilities of a long term establishment and transfer of this training concept will be developed.
