Eel stocking programs in the river basin of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to realize the European eel action plan

Purpose of research: Applied research
Facing the European eel action plan various measures are available to increase the silver eel escapement on river basin scale. Beside the reduction of the anthropogenic factors also stocking programs are helpful to increase the total number of migrating silver eels. Based on scientific coordinated stocking program the total number of eels in the inland waters of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern should be increased. The effects of these stocking activities should finally visible in a higher silver eel escapement in 10 till 15 years.
