Possibilities and perspectives of cooperative approaches to wood cascade use by the example of South Westphalia region / backgrounds, necessity and concepts of wood cascade use to improve resource efficiency, climate protection and economy in the cluster forest and wood (KLIMAKASKADE)
Project
Project code: 28WB301401
Contract period: 01.01.2014
- 30.04.2016
Budget: 234,000 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
The project will develop and implement cooperative approaches towards managed material flows that increase the cascade use of wood with a focus on the Southern Westphalia model region. Representatives from forest owners and all important commercial wood users will be included to work out results and recommendations which are also transferable to other regions. The outcomes will contribute to increasing the efficiency of regional wood value chains and the climate protection benefits of the forest-based sector. The scientific research objectives of the project aim at intensifying cascading uses of wood: • Methodological approaches for gathering required regional data • Industry-specific concepts of cascade wood use possibilities at operational level • Recommendations of implementation and transfer of solutions to other regions
