Economic impacts of Western Corn Rootworm will be evaluated for the scenarios 'without official phytosantiary measures' and 'with the introduction and application of different measures' aiming at eradication or containment of Diabrotica virgifera virgifera. The evaluation will be based on newly developed spread models for Diabrotica and will take into account regional differences in maize growing purposes (like grain maize, forage maize, maize for biogas production) as well as assumption for the whole of Germany. The resulting cost/benefit analysis are expected to provide advice for the future development of most appropriate control strategies against Western Corn Rootworm in Germany.
