Biomass yards - intermediary between forst owner and consumer. A model for the optimisation of fuel wood supply
Project
Project code: 22015603
Contract period: 01.09.2004
- 31.10.2006
Purpose of research: Applied research
The federal government tries to support the market conditions for renewables in the field of power generation with a set of legislative measures. However, these measures do not strengthen the use of fuel wood in private households since they aim on power generation only. To boost the use of fuel wood in private households other instruments have to be applied. Hence, the Department of Managerial Economics of the Institute for Economics examines the instruments that might be able to boost the private demand of fuel wood in Germany. In a survey so called “biomass yards” and forest owners actively marketing fuel wood are asked which instruments they use to overcome the obstacles for a stronger fuel wood supply. In addition to the survey in Germany, it will be analysed if the legal measures that are active in Austria and Denmark might help to strengthen the fuel wood consumption in Germany.
