FOR 438: An Integrative Analysis of Mechanisms of Probiotic Action in Pigs
Contract period : - 2008
The aim of the research unit is to obtain a sophisticated picture of the complex functional mechanism by which selected probiotics affect both the intestinal tract and the entire host organism. The integration of several disciplines will enable us to investigate the reaction of the studied animals upon administered probiotics including alterations of the intestinal microbiota, the gut morphology and physiology as well as the host immunology. All animal trials are jointly planned and each parameter is studied at the very same samples (animals, tissues, cell cultures) in order to gather synergistic results. Through this consolidated data acquisition and integrative analysis we will be able to recognize interactions between the studied parameters and consider them in the study design of the following experiments.
