Förderkennzeichen: DFG FOR 666
Laufzeit: 01.01.2006 - 31.12.2010
Forschungszweck: Grundlagenforschung

Global transcription profiling revealed a significant suppression of the plant innate immune system by Piriformospora indica. Subsequent analyses identified gibberellic acid (GA) as compatibility factor; an activity that might be partly explained by a GA-mediated modification of plant immune signalling (Schäfer et al., 2009). In addition, lipid metabolism was found to be altered in P. indica-colonised roots. Lipids are intimately associated with defense- and with symbiosis-related signalling by recruiting or integrating hormone signalling. Moreover, lipid-derived fatty acids serve as oxylipin/JA precursors. In the second phase of FOR 666 we want to pursue molecular alterations associated with GA-mediated compatibility in the mutualistic association and to study the contribution of phospholipid-based signalling in a successful symbiosis.
