The aim of the project is to promote and support the collaborative urban gardening initiatives in neighbourhoods or neighbourhood communities. The motivation for the project is based on the fact that although there is an increasing interest in initiatives for urban gardening, the organization and communication among the active and potential participants pose great challenges. As a rule, the group members of these initiatives are not bound to each other or mutually bound by binding formalities, but are rather loosely in contact with each other through the common interest in urban gardening. The desired solution consists on the one hand of a mobile app for common operating systems (iOs, Andriod) to form active and potential group members into local urban gardening initiatives, whereby the app also supports communication and the organization of collaborative bed care. In addition, optional workshop offers by horticultural experts on site are intended to motivate and empower the group members. The project thus aims in particular at an activating integration of the urban population into collaborative urban gardening initiatives through an innovative, technology-supported communication, organisational and participation concept (funding object B: "Horticultural production in urban and peri-urban areas"). The scientific goal lies in the identification of concrete user needs and how a measurement concept for evaluation can be designed to make the social added value of urban gardening initiatives transparent. From a technical point of view, the goal is to translate the user needs identified as critical to success into the technical functionalities of a mobile app and to implement a corresponding implementation concept.
