Project code: AZ II-1 F41.2009.04
Contract period: 01.06.2009 - 31.05.2011
Budget: 71,975 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research

The agricultural animal husbandry is basically involved in the gas emission as ammonia, nitrogen oxides or volatile organic substances. The emitted gases are suspicious to be responsible for the nucleation of the secondary particles by chemical reactions. In general secondary particles belong to the particle sizes of < 0.2 µm. In rural areas with greater distance to animal houses secondary particles have a bigger part of the total dust concentration than primary particles with greater diameter. The dimension of formation of secondary particles from chemical substances, which are emitted by the agriculture, is not investigated. Aim of the study is the estimation of the relevance of secondary particles from animal husbandry for the dust impact in NRW. Furthermore the processes of formation of secondary particles in the atmosphere should be identified.
