Project
Project code: Vergabe-Nr. 07/035.1
Contract period: 01.06.2007
- 31.05.2009
Budget: 82,619 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
In a large number of organic dairy farms (143; monthly data collection on 28 farms) data are collected regarding feeding conditions and performance of dairy cows over a three-year period. The objectives of this study are (1) to further develop management programs and (2) to construct and evaluate current recommendations of advisory services. Objective (1) is pursued in a continuous on-farm process by experts of the Chamber for Agriculture of North Rhine-Westphalia. To achieve objective (2), the whole set of data on feeding and performance of dairy cows is evaluated using adequate statistical methodology with the goal to derive generalisable results and conclusions, which can then be communicated to consultants and finally transferred into farming practice.
