Project code: DFG SFB 670
Contract period: 01.01.2006 - 31.12.2010
Purpose of research: Basic research

Human papillomaviruses (HPV) infect keratinocytes of skin and mucosa, where they induce benign or malignant proliferative lesions. Long term goal of this SFB project is to elucidate cell autonomous defence mechanisms of keratinocytes against HPV, and how the viruses cope with these defence mechanisms. This part of the project focusses on a novel mechanism activated by synthetic dsRNA (polyIC), which opens new therapeutic perspectives against HPV-disease, particularly for immunosuppressed patients.
