Decision support in plant protection by identifying plant pest species with UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) (Schadinspektor)
Project
Project code: JKI-GF-08-1192
Contract period: 01.05.2016
- 30.04.2019
Purpose of research: Applied research
In the project algorithms for several applications will be developed and integrated in a web-based decision support system (www.isip.de) to aid farmers and other interest groups in planning and conducting plant protection measures. The project focuses on the detection of common vole infestation in grain crops and grassland as well as stripe rust in wheat. Both pests can occur at large scale but damage pattern often is patchy. Damage scale and spatial pattern seem suitable for using UAV-imaging to demonstrate the spreading of infestation and to determine areas that require treatment, which should help to support timely action and to restrict measures to affected areas.
