The Göttingen Institute of Ethnology sees itself as an internationally-oriented research and educational institution. The Institute is intergraded in the research society processes of change and innovation dynamics in comparative perspective of social science faculty. The two priority regions of the Institute with regard to teaching, research and Ethnological collection are the Indopazifik - especially Oceania and Southeast Asia - and Africa.
