The bio-economy in the non-food sector comprises both energetic and material use of regionally available agricultural raw materials, waste products and by-products that can be further developed in combination with cascade and bio-refining concepts. Changes to cultivation systems and optimisations to processes and process chains also play a significant part in improving eco-effectiveness within the scope of the “cradle to cradle” principle. The project is divided into different work packages, each of which is led individually or cooperatively by members of the operational team.
