Novel and extended wood pellet characterisation and combustion modelling – Part 2: Application in practice (FuturePelletSpec 2)
Project
Project code: 2221NR016A
Contract period: 01.12.2021
- 31.05.2024
Purpose of research: Applied research
Within the scope of this project, the basic knowledge gained in Part 1 regarding individual aspects of wood pellet characterization is to be expanded and deepened for low-emission operation of pellet stoves. The newly gained knowledge is reviewed with regard to its applicability in practice and new practice-oriented characterization methods will be developed. Likewise, the development of a particularly low-emission pellet stove (LEFLEX-Pko) is carried out with the help of a newly developed fuel bed burnout model and is extensively tested with various pellet assortments. From these experiences, guidelines for an optimized furnace design and for fuel characterization are derived and made available.
