Purpose of research: Inventory & Assessment
COCOS represents the European contribution to GEOSS carbon variables. It aims at enhancing the interoperability of data sets on carbon in the atmosphere, biosphere, and oceans; to improve regional modellling of carbon fluxes in ecosystems and make data on critical carbon pools available: organic soils, tropical forests, permafrost.
