Purpose of research: Basic research
The aim of Compendium is the comparative study of gene changes in the endometrium during early pregnancy among species cattle, pigs and horses. The focus of the work is on the identification of commonalities and differences in the mechanisms of detection and establishment of a pregnancy in these species. In addition, the data obtained with results of similar studies in humans and mouse compared to the relationships between gene expression in the endometrium and implantation of various types to recognize. The investigations are mainly at the level of messenger RNA (mRNA) in the endometrium at early stages of pregnancy and during the cycle with the help of microarray technology. Since the horse is not currently a larger array is available, new sequencing technologies to analyze expression. For the identified (differentially expressed) genes are specific microarrays created, or when the existing cattle Bovine Oviduct and endometrium (BOE)-Array (Bauer Sachs et al. J Dairy Sci 90, 4420-4423, 2007) developed. With the help of bioinformatics analysis identified key genes are accurately characterized. When beef is still the expression of small regulatory RNAs (microRNAs) investigated the complex regulatory mechanisms during the cycle and early pregnancy can be better understood. Compendium is essential to understanding the molecular basis of fertility. This will create conditions for the identification of new selection marker for the characteristic complex fertility, the development of diagnostic arrays, or even the appearance of targets to improve maternal fertility.
