The Leibniz Institute for Regional Geography (Leibniz-Institut für Länderkunde – IfL) carries out basic research on the regional geography of Europe and processes regional geographical information for specialists and general audiences. Under the heading 'New Geographies of Europe' the IfL researches current processes particularly in Central and Eastern Europe. Another focus of attention is the development of innovative forms of visual communication of space and spatiality.
