Aquatic Warbler - Conservation and restoration of habitats of aquatic warbler through new ways of managing wet grassland
Project
Project code: ZALF-708
Contract period: 16.09.2011
- 15.09.2014
Purpose of research: Applied research
The project objective is the preservation and restoration of habitats for internationally threatened grassland birds, especially the flagship species of aquatic warbler, as well as Cnidion dubii, as a example for the Lower Oder valley. Three specific objectives to be achieved through the project:
Objective 1: Development of at least 200 ha of aquatic warbler habitat through the improvment of water conditions and grassland use in polders 5/6 as stepping stones to the neighbouring Polish breeding area.
Objective 2: Maintenance and promotion of the typical mosaic of floodplain landforms as habitat for meadow birds (aquatic warbler, corncrake, redshank) and Cnidion dubii through adapted grassland use and establishment of Cnidion dubii in polders A/B
Objective 3: Cost accounting and financial models of the adapted grassland use
