Description
Quality of a product may be defined as its suitability to serve the intended purpose. The research of department is focused on following objectives: definition of quality attributes according to the expectations of breeders, producers, retailers and consumers, respectively characterizing product quality by external, chemical and physical attributes in respect to sensory quality and bioactive substances. Moreover, in interdisciplinary collaboration the effects of climate influence and cultural practices on product quality at harvest and during shelf-life are investigated. This research forms the basis to develop integrated strategies for appropriate controlling of product quality which can be transformated in horticultutal practice.
