Contract period: 01.01.2021
- 31.12.2023
Budget: 345,181 Euro
Purpose of research: Applied research
Keywords: Plant production and horticulture, landscape element/diversity
Development and testing of an innovative cultivation system (tree training practice as a 'spindle? (pyramidal shape)) and suitable hazelnut varieties for Thuringia (assessment of the varieties with regard to their development and initial yields). Accompanying the development of the infestation of the nut weevil Curculio nucum with a basic investigation to check whether decision-making aids (prediction model) for innovative approaches to regulating the insect can be designed for cultivation practice. Establishing suitable harvest and storage methods. Observation of the tree development and reacting to emerging challenges (pests, diseases, nutrients, weather influences). Literature research, expert surveys and excursions thematically appropriate to the challenges that have arisen and relevant topics. Investigation of the influence of the weather and the location on nutritionally important ingredients. Preparations for the investigation of the influence of chicken farming within the hazelnut plants (symbiotic effects).
