Description
The Foundation of Veterinary Medicine Hanover (TiHo) was founded 1778 as Roßarzney school by George III., and is know one of the oldest veterinary training centres in Europe and the oldest remaining independent in Germany. In January 2003 the TiHo was converted into a public foundation. A historical and innovative step as the TiHo in its new design as a foundation is know able to gain capital assets. The university will seize this opportunity to better carry out its tasks in research, teaching and service to meet and the questioning of society from the fields of animal health, animal welfare, consumer protection, food sciences and biomedical sciences to answer. To the School of Veterinary Medicine Hannover belong about 935 staff members (academic and non-academic) and about 2,000 veterinary and 500 biology students. Annually about 250 veterinarians graduate in Hanover. The number ofthe academic staff is 244. Most of the 700 persons in the technical staff have the qualification of a 'Veterinary Medical Laboratory Technician' or a 'Medical Laboratory Assistant'. Many TiHo's working groups are in cooperation with partners from industry (innovation transfer).
